Cheating in Interviews

Is now so widespread, a massive shift in interviewing format is happening.

At first glance, 85% cheating seems very high, but many other commenters corroborate this statistic.

Apparently the main ways are:

1. Actively searching on AI or Google for answers while on a live video call.

2. Getting another person off screen, to talk while the interviewee lip syncs. This is bizarre to me, and I’ve never actually seen anybody do it. (that I know of)

If you don’t think this is real, have a look at these guys getting caught.

In India there’s an industry that provides interview centers, that verify the ID and photo of interviewees - then provide a space where they can have a video call interview (so they can’t cheat).

I’ve seen this company mentioned a few times – Ultracode.

(I won’t link to them – f*ck them)

They provide an expensive (US$899) app that will actively listen to live interview questions and then provide automated coded solutions.

(Also, I think I coined a new term CAAS – Cheating As A Service)

So? A few things..

1. If you get caught cheating, you’ll be blacklisted from that company and from everyone you dealt with in the process. If you do that enough times, your career will be over. (or go viral on YouTube, and be completely humiliated)

2. You need to know all the tech, otherwise you’ll look like an idiot if you actually do get a job.

3. Companies are consciously trying to bring people back on-premises to do interviews. You’ll sit at a desk with a PC, and you’ll have to write code with no help.

4. Knowing that you’re good at something – Will give you real confidence in interviews.

Cheers Shano.
