Power BI Developer Job Breakdown
What’s the difference between a Power BI Developer and Data Analyst?
A PBI Dev job uses Power BI as the visualization tool, while a Data Analyst uses whatever tech stack the company wants.
This reddit thread covers this question.

This post sums it up.
Example from UK
This job would be fun.. getting paid to go through crime data (although the pay is a little low).
They’re moving from an on-premises PBI Report Server, to PBI Service (cloud). They probably tried to do it with their existing staff and realized that the cloud version is a different beast. Basically, they got stuck and need help.
This is definitely a PBI Dev job, as the main tech is PBI, you’ll be on it 70% of the day.
Example from Australia
This has a nice day rate of AUD$695 (US$452) and is more high level.
This is a 6-month contract, with the possibility to extend – if they like you. It’s through an agency so we don’t know the company.
This is definitely a PBI Dev job – the whole stack is PBI, Power Query, DAX.
It’s notable they have Tableau and Qlik listed, probably in the past someone has used these tools and there’s some legacy setup. You’ll be making those tools redundant and moving everything to the PBI stack.
