Power BI going Parabolic
This slide from an Internal Microsoft presentation shows Power BI usage going through the roof.
375,000 customers and 95% of Fortune 500 companies are using it.
The 6.5 million developers could mean all those that have licences, not sure.
Microsoft doesn’t share internal numbers, so getting this graphic is a treat.
It’s hard to get Tableau’s numbers, but from a variety of sources an estimate of close to 60,000 customers is consensus.
In other words, Power BI is gaining massive market share.
When Microsoft go all in on a product, they can own the category. On the other hand, Salesforce are focusing on integrating Tableau into its core CRM product.
So, if you don’t use Salesforce, tough luck?
Also, you have companies like Klarna, who are dumping Salesforce completely. They’re using their own CRM - built with AI.
Increasingly I’m reading more articles like this, outlining the slow death of CRM’s. https://a16z.com/ai-transforms-sales/
The death of tech paradigms - happen slowly – then all at once.
Career Insights
Power BI growth is now parabolic – get on the bandwagon.
CRM’s - Base your career on them at your own peril.
There are no guarantees in life – best just to get on trends early. Yes you’re still early to Power BI, in a few years they could double usage.
Notice I don’t talk about which is better Power BI or Tableau or XYZ.
Because I want you to be EMPLOYED and EARNING top dollar.
Which tool is better - is irrelevant to this article.
Happy Holidays, and wishing you a great 2025. Cheers Shano.
